ELIGIBILITY:
To provide a safe environment for our campers and staff we will adhere to the CDC guidelines for COVID-19 (temperature checks, wearing masks, social distancing, washing hands regularly, and appropriate sanitizing). All potential new and returning campers, ages 5 – 21 must be interviewed prior to acceptance/registering online. We are limited in the number of campers we can safely accommodate at this time. Persons with physical, intellectual or developmental disabilities are eligible to apply as long as we can accommodate their needs. For potential new and returning campers: After receiving application and current IEP (Individual Education Plan), we will set up an interview to meet with parent/guardian and child to ask/answer questions, review application, tour the facility and determine if we can accommodate his/her needs. Once accepted to camp, payment can be made. A waiting list will be started once we have reached our maximum number of campers. All approved campers (up to maximum number) will have the opportunity to apply to SC Respite Coalition for up to $776 to pay for respite (Camp Sunshine and Extended Care). All decisions are made/finalized by SC Respite Coalition for these funds.
HEALTH AND SAFETY:
We will follow guidelines set forth by the CDC and DHEC. Masks will be required, proper sanitation procedures will be followed. We will maintain social distancing as much as possible.
ATTENDANCE:
If camper will be absent, parent/guardian is asked to please notify Camp Sunshine of camper’s absence.
ACTIVITIES:
Many activities are planned in music/dance, drama/storytelling, sports/games, arts/crafts, and movies related to the theme of the week. Each activity provides an opportunity to enhance positive social interaction and self-expression that will promote growth and experience for each camper.
